My name is Mike Koskiniemi and I run a fitness and nutrition business called Motions Fitness, in Marquette, Michigan. This business is dedicated to people of all ages achieve their health and fitness goals through our custom fitness and nutrition programming. We use a 5component system that has helped thousands of people lose over 150,000 pounds!

This business works and it is growing!

Motions is looking for positive, motivated, and energetic people to add to our growing team of professionals. We currently specialize in one-on-one personal training sessions, nutritional counseling, small group personal training, group exercise classes and much much more that is a comprehensive fitness and nutritional program that gets results. 

All clients begin with an initial 12-week personal training commitment, which includes: personal training sessions, nutritional counseling, and custom programming designed to help each client reach their goals. Also included in these 12 weeks are monthly assessments, group exercise classes, trigger point therapy and anything that helps the client achieve success. 

We are looking for full time employees. If you are hired to be a part of Motions, then you will go through an extensive educational training process that will prepare you to be the best team member you can be for our clients. 

You will go through a 90-day trial period, where we make sure you are the right fit for our team. Motions offers a casual, fun, yet professional environment, innovative training equipment and the opportunity to continue to learn and grow as a fitness professional daily.

Construct Comprehensive Fitness and Nutrition Programs For Clients:

You will receive expert training on our award winning systems and programming. Motions has one system, with our trainers amazing personalities wrapped around it.

Tracking Client Progress:

At Motions, we believe the proof is in the pudding, that being said we track and log all of our clients measurements on a monthly basis and weights on a weekly basis. We also keep track of their nutrition through our own customized InBalance journal. We monitor success through before and after pictures and the daily written workouts for clients by trainers. It is the trainer's responsibility to hold the client accountable to ensure the best results possible.

Perform Fitness Evaluations:

Motions has its own specific procedures and process for fitness evaluations. You will learn this during your training period. You do not need previous experience, but if you do, that is a bonus.

Reach client goals through 12-week program:

You'll be responsible for weekly exercise sessions and keeping dialed in to your clients wants, needs and requests. Progress is recorded through weekly weigh-ins and other means necessary in conjunction to the clients specific goals. If a client is having challenges throughout his or her program, you will motivate the client and make appropriate changes to ensure consistent progress.

Execute and Demonstrate Proper Technique through Exercise:

This skill is imperative to work as a trainer for Motions. You must provide proper coaching, instruction, and motivation during a client training session. You should have a working knowledge of the human body (i.e. muscles, movements, functions, etc) and be able to provide appropriate exercises for client's goals. You must also be a product of the product. Lead by example. You must continually be working on your exercise and nutrition. If you cannot do it, how do you expect your client to?

Required Skills

In order to qualify you must possess these skills:

Excellent Communication Skills:

The job of a personal trainer requires you to socially and physically interact with a variety of people. You must be able to effectively listen and verbally and non-verbally communicate what you expect and need your client to do. Holding yourself to the utmost professionalism during your time with each client is necessary. Your instruction must be clear and concise.

A General Health and Fitness Education:

You do not need personal training experience, but you should have a working knowledge of health and fitness. We will teach you what you need to know to effectively get your clients results and will continually give you cutting edge education to continually make you a better professional and personal trainer.

Extra Skills

If you have these additional skills, your resume will go right to the top of the stack (but if you don't have these skills, you should still apply because these are not mandatory).

  • Basic nutrition knowledge of the macro nutrients 
  • National Certification 
  • Exercise Science Degree or a Degree in a related field
  • CPR Certified
